Itinerary

Personal tour information and bike handover in the evening. The first capital of Italy lures many sights for a first walk.

On bike paths and small side roads, initially along the Po River. At the foot of the mountains lies the Hunting Palace of Stupinigi, the Rococo masterpiece of the architect Filippo Juvarra. For many years this palace was the seat of the Savoy family. Through parks and along rivers we continue to Pinerolo. One of the most famous cavalry schools in Italy was based here.

On beautiful paths past orchards and vines to Cavour with its curious castle "Rocca", a moraine hill in the middle of the flat country. We continue across lush meadows and fields to medieval Saluzzo with its Italian flair.

On the way to today's stage are the beautiful castles of Manta and Costigliole. Also worth visiting is Benevagienna, a town of Roman origins with archaeological excavations. After Cherasco, Bra is soon reached, it is the capital of gourmets, as the "Slow Food" organization was founded here.

The University of Good Taste is located in Pollenzo, a city of Roman origins. After Barolo, there are a few hills to climb. The probably “best wine” in Italy compensates for this. Of course, some winegrowers invite you to a tasting. Continue to Alba, world-famous for its white truffle, along the Tanaro River.

Today we cycle in the region of Roero. On the way are the castles of Guarene and Cisterna (the museum can be visited). Overnight in Asti, a city full of culture. Famous not only for the sparkling wine of the same name but also for the well-known Palio competition, where, like in Tuscany, horses are ridden for supremacy in the city.

The cycle route leads back to the starting point of the journey on lonely paths along small streams. There are small, sleepy villages along the way and many a vine makes you want a little glass again. You should toast your trip to Chieri because from here you can take the train back to Turin.

Departure from Turin or spend extra nights in the city or surrounding region.

Route map and overview

You cycle on cycle paths and side streets with little traffic. The first two stages are mostly flat. After that, the route is rather hilly. On the stage from Bra via Barolo to Alba there are also several longer climbs to be cycled. A little more traffic must be expected at city entrances and exits as well as on short connecting sections.
