The highlights of the cycling tour along the Tuscany coast:
Leaning Tower of Pisa: At the start of the tour, you should cycle around the Leaning Tower of Pisa - after all, it is one of the most famous landmarks in Italy. It is a so-called "campanile", a free-standing bell tower intended to complement the cathedral.
Over the Etruscan coast: Pine forests, almost endless sandy beaches and steep coasts - days 4 and 5 of the tour along the Tuscan coast are all about the 90 km long "Etruscan Riviera". Incidentally, some of the small bays leading to the port of Piombino can only be reached by sea.
The wine village of Bolgheri: Not only one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany but also known worldwide for its excellent wines (e.g. the Sassicaia). Tip: Italy's longest avenue of cypresses in front of the gates of Bolgheri is also worth a break and a snapshot.
Sandy beaches of Elba: The last day of the trip begins with a ferry ride to the island of Elba, where you can once again enjoy the sea after many kilometres of cycling. Incidentally, the water quality around the island is considered excellent.
The highlights of the cycling tour along the Tuscany coast:
The bike tour along the Tuscan coast is a real pleasure tour. The stages, which are between 15 and 60 km long, are supplemented by train and ferry trips. Visit the town gate named Torrione Rivellino from the thirteenth century and the cathedral from the fourteenth century, Rivollino Castle and Populuonia Castle. The walled town of Piombino is a fortress designed by Leonardo da Vinci.

This cycling holiday ends after breakfast. There are options for another extension to enjoy this beautiful area even longer.
Route information
The route primarily offers a flat to gently undulating terrain, with the exception of two more demanding segments that traverse the hinterland. You'll find that nearly all of the cycling paths are paved with asphalt, while certain sections alongside the sea guide you along well-kept, rustic trails. Regrettably, due to the absence of cycle paths in specific areas, there will be brief stretches where cycling on roads with moderate traffic becomes a necessity.
