This tour is generally characterised by gently rolling terrain with only a few steeper sections. However, on the 12-day version of this tour, there are four days that include several challenging uphill climbs. You'll primarily follow scenic bike paths, tranquil farm tracks, and low-traffic side streets, with occasional short segments on somewhat busier roads. Additionally, you'll encounter some longer stretches where you'll cycle on gravel tracks.
Aveiro: The Venice of Portugal, with its canals and moleceiro boats, salt pans and taste the ancient regional sweet Ovos Moles.
Ecovias: Cycling on typical Portuguese cycle paths built on former railway lines and rural roads along fantastic landscapes along the coast
Lisbon: Wander through the labyrinth of alleys and winding streets, the famous Portuguese music Fado can be heard everywhere.
For the most part, your route will lead you along flat coastal paths, with the exception of the last two stages that incorporate a few brief uphill sections. You'll mainly ride on asphalt paths, agricultural trails, and Ecovias, which are typical Portuguese bicycle paths constructed on former railway lines. These stages should not pose any difficulties for cyclists who are accustomed to regular biking.
